Prior to Confirmation, all candidates will write a letter to the Diocese of New Ulm's Bishop, Chad Zielinski requesting to be confirmed in the Catholic Church. This letter explains why the candidate wishes to become confirmed (of their own free will), provides their sponsor's name, includes their saint name and explanation, and identifies the candidate by name and parish. Letters are to be typed and sent via email to the Director of Faith Formation ([email protected])
Here are some things you should include in your letter: Begin your letter with: Dear Bishop Chad Zielinski,
Begin by stating who you are and the parish to which you belong.
Explain why you want to be confirmed.
Explain how your Classes, Service Opportunities, and Sponsor Sessions have helped you grow in your faith and your relationship with Jesus.
Detail what your relationship with God is like (is he a friend, a mentor, a model for you to follow, etc.).
How has the Holy Spirit made a difference in your life?
Share your Confirmation saint name; why did you choose that saint?
Talk about your sponsor and how he/she has helped you on your faith journey.
Include how you will continue to minister to others in your community after your Confirmation.
Conclude your letter with: Sincerely, (type your name)
