Sacramental Preparation - First Reconciliation/First Eucharist
Sacramental Preparation - First Reconciliation/First Eucharist
Faith Formation Classes
Children attend Faith Formation classes with grade-level peers to become part of the community and journey in faith together.
Baptism Classes (For children who have not been Baptized)
Parents attend the Baptism Class offered in the area faith community and work with their child(ren) to learn about the Sacrament of Baptism. All children must be baptized prior to receiving any other sacrament. Those needing to be baptized must contact the parish office for more information, including scheduling.
Parent Meeting
A parent’s presence is important in the life of the child. Sacraments are special events in a child’s life, the life of the family, and the life of the parish. We want to help parents to prepare their children to celebrate First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. We hope to make this preparation time for parents an opportunity to connect with one another, learn about their role as parents of children receiving sacraments, and take home ideas to grow in love and faith!
Parent and Youth Sessions
Each grade level provides two opportunities for parents and youth to grow in their faith together, called Parent and Youth Sessions (PAY) with each child in Faith Formation. PAY sessions are on Wednesdays during regular class time or during a longer window of time (to allow for parents/guardians’ work schedules). Watch your e-mail for further information about each grade's PAY sessions, or click here for more information.
First Reconciliation
Individual Reconciliation occurs in January with parent(s) and child preparing for the sacrament using a few of the Stations of the Cross to prepare the child to examine his/her conscience prior to receiving the sacrament.
First Eucharist
First Eucharist (also known as First Communion) occurs in April or May. There is a rehearsal for the child and parent(s) Prior to the celebration of the sacrament to practice what will happen on the day of First Eucharist.
Take-Home Activity Books
Parents work with their child to prepare for the sacraments at home. There is a book for Reconciliation and one for Eucharist that is to be completed prior to the reception of each sacrament.
