Cold Weather Rule
If you can’t pay your whole gas or electric bill between October 15 and the next April 15, a gas and electric (if used for heat)utility company can’t shut off your service if you make and keep a payment plan. You Do Not Have to Be Paid Up by October 15 To Get Cold Weather Shut-Off Protection.  You must contact your utility provider before October 15th to make a payment plan and keep current with that payment plan.
